Friends Expands into Bethel Region

Friends of the Children - Lane County will double the number of families it serves this summer. In partnership with Bethel School District, Relief Nursery and Department of Human Services, Friends will begin providing services to a new group of families largely based in the Bethel region. After a challenging school year that has left many youth without a typical amount of social connection and academic support, Friends felt it was important to extend services as wide as possible. This desire was able to come to fruition with financial support from key donors, grants from the Silver Family Foundation, Quest, the Oregon Community Foundation of and the school district itself. It is expected that families will be selected and mentoring will begin in July. It's exciting to be able to offer support on a faster timeline than we'd anticipated and do so with a really student and family focused partner, like Bethel School District.
